Crafty leanings lead Luke and Anna to enrol in an Advanced Diploma in Fashion Design, at East Sydney Technical College, and not long after completing the course, they joined forces to form their wildly, wacky and artfully adventurous brainchild, Romance Was Born. Three years on and the applause from their Rosemount Australian Fashion Week 2007 show is still resounding. With their recent showing at the Kaliman Gallery, Paddington, �The Garden Of Eden� saw the collaboration with recent Archibald winner-Australian artist, Del Kathryn Barton. Their �Regional Australia� collection show for SS 06/07 was an offsite success held at the Cricketers Arms, and the year before, they participated in another off-site fashion week group show titled �No Sweat-shop�. From crafting costumes for Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, to concocting pieces for Cyndi Lauper, and Debbie Harry on their Australian tours, to cooking-up outfits for an Architecture in Helsinki film clip- the label�s standout rollcall of kooky celebrity followers reflects its high-drama individuality.
